Qiblify
Precise Qibla compass for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android
Qiblify shows the direction to Qibla, the bearing relative to true north, and an approximate distance to Mecca. Lightweight, accurate, and straightforward — works offline after the initial location fix.
🔔 What’s new?
- Apple Watch complications (minimal compass view)
- Improved compass noise filtering and steadier arrow
- Localized UI (BG/EN) and AR-ready internals
- Transparent methodology description and inline tips
Qibla Direction
Clear arrow and degrees with high contrast.
True / Magnetic North
Uses true heading by default; optional magnetic heading.
Accurate Location
Minimal requests and battery-friendly behavior.
Distance to Mecca
Approximate great-circle distance for reference.
Apple Watch
Haptic feedback when aligned precisely.
Localization
BG / EN (AR-ready). No sign-ups, no personal data.
How Qiblify works
- Grant one-time location permission at first launch.
- Keep the phone level and away from magnetic sources.
- Align the arrow with the highlighted sector — you’ll feel a haptic on Apple Watch.
- You may switch to magnetic north in Settings.
Methodology
Qiblify uses spherical trigonometry to compute the initial great-circle bearing from your location to the Kaaba (21.4225°N, 39.8262°E). The formula calculates the true-north-based bearing and normalizes it to the 0°–360° range:
Δλ = λ2 − λ1 x = cos φ1 * sin φ2 − sin φ1 * cos φ2 * cos Δλ y = sin Δλ * cos φ2 θ = atan2(y, x) QiblaBearing = normalize(θ) // degrees [0°, 360°]
Example: from Sofia (42.6977°N, 23.3219°E), the computed Qibla direction is approximately 134° — pointing southeast.
The code implementation resides in QiblaCalculator.trueBearing(...). Distance is calculated using the haversine formula and displayed for reference.
Qiblify for Apple Watch
- Instant compass view with haptic feedback when aligned
- Minimal complication (flat arrow / degrees)
- Works standalone on watchOS after initial location consent
FAQ
Does it work offline?
Yes — after the first location fix, it works fully offline.
Do you collect personal data?
No. Qiblify has no accounts, no tracking, and no personal data collection.
How accurate is it?
Accuracy depends on device calibration and avoiding magnetic interference. Keep the phone away from metal objects and follow system calibration prompts.
